Happy Oh Nine
When I started this blogging project in November, I had little idea what was going to come. I was starting an anonymous blog where I could write just about anything, but after some posts about music it became apparent that a music blog is what I want to do. I’m very glad it turned out that way. To keep the blog reader friendly, I decided to keep other stuff out, apart from maybe a short deviation to some other artistic issue.
Most importantly, this blog is a journey for me into music to discover and learn new things. I hope it can be something like that to my readers as well. So far it’s been a fun project with interaction with music lovers all over the world, which is something that makes me happy. And a wonderful side product is learning about writing and language while working on it.
Starting a new blog can be frustrating at first when you write and write but only see few hits. That must be how it is for starting bands as well. There are just so many good bands these days that luck plays a big role which bands make it. Of course things like skills, hard work and marketing matter, but I’d say one definitely needs luck to get big. So an important thing to remember is to not judge your efforts simply by the result, but rather by the very nature of the efforts itself. Keep doing your best and good things will come to you, that’s what I like to believe.
The state of the world doesn’t look so good right now with the economy on its way downhill. Or maybe it does, I read somewhere that hard times can actually make people feel better. Make them care about themselves and others instead of just living their lives in a shallow way. I hope a healthier world comes out of this recession. Personally, I feel optimistic about the year 2009. I will keep posting here about 2-3 times a week, and I’m thrilled to see where it goes. I do have some plans, but they always tend to change.
I had a hard time selecting the song to accompany this post, but after writing all of this it became clear that I want to go with These Days by R.E.M. I wish all of you Happy New Year 2009!
